Singapore. Singapore Changi Airport has been voted the World’s Best Airport by air travellers for the fourth consecutive year at the 2016 World Airport Awards, held at Passenger Terminal EXPO in Cologne, Germany. This is the 7th time that Changi Airport has picked up this top title.
Changi Airport also received the Best Airport for Leisure Amenities award. These leisure amenities include the music bar lounges, cinemas, music deck, swimming pool, napping and rest areas and the in-terminal Transit Hotel. India ranks 7th in Changi’s top country links with Mumbai, in particular, witnessing an 11 per cent increase in passenger traffic for the month of December 2015. 3.4 million Indian passengers passed through Changi during the year 2015. 5.9 per cent retail sales were contributed by the Indian passenger traffic in the same year. The annual data also reveals that favourite buys for Indian passengers in the year 2015 were liquor and tobacco, perfumes and cosmetics followed by confectionaries, electronics and jewellery.
